Shark Bite Theory

This is the theory that most film makers use today is the Shark bite, this allows the audience to be dragged straight into the movie and capture their attention different genres depend on the initial bite.

Pineapple Express- The opening to this film allows the character to express himself giving a funny intro to this comedy.

The Hills Have Eyes 2- The opening to this film Shocks the audience straight away showing a pregnant woman giving birth in a cave to only be beaten to death straight after, a shocking intro to this genre of horror.

Monsters (2010)

The narative information i collect from this movie poster;

Genre- from the images on the poster i assume that action may play a big part during the film this is due to the broken helicopter in the background as well as the ones flying in the background which could also lead to a war theme genre.

The images displayed on the poster make me think that the narrative may follow the journey of the main characters the male and the female as well as this the idea of the journey is supported by them walking along a road.

When looking at this poster its noticeable that on the right hand side a road sign saying " Warning INFECTED ZONE Extra Terrestrials" this supports the idea that this film is a creature feature or monster move which is obvious by the title of the movie.

The tagline of this movie suggest to me that the main characters of the film may come up against this alien threat and struggle to overcome whatever problems they are going to face, but it may also suggest that they may be able to succeed in their endeavours.

Genre- Comedy

This is a typical comedy film using the correct codes and conventions to put its genre across to the audience. We can define its genre with the type of mise-en-scene that is used with colourful backgrounds in familiar settings such as work and home. Other conventions use in this comedy is comedians used to play the parts of the main character e.g Seth Rogan. When the audience see this character they immediately accept the genre as comedy. Other conventions use in this film was props to create slapstick comedy for example when the character Saul is ran over by the cop car a red slushy is used to create the impression of blood on the windscreen which is use as a distraction for their escape from someone who is willing to help them.
