Character Profiles and binary opposites.

For my course work I was instructed to create two characters with binary opposites. This is apparent in most film as Good vs. Evil, Man vs. monster etc. in this exercise I created my two characters The Damsel and The Hunter.

The Damsel – young between 19 -25, blonde hair, blue eyes, stereo typically dumb, easily scared, acts and doesn’t think, the victim.

The Hunter – middle aged, solitary and hidden, scruffy, dirty, intelligent, hotheaded, strong, quiet, the killer.

Lighting

Using the "redheads"
The redhead lamps are extremely fragile, so when transporting them use the bag and padding. Be cautious when you're near them, 2 people should carry them.
The lamps are also become very hot after extended periods of use, so take care and make sure they are safe to carry before attempting to move them.
Do not cover them with anything.
Do not look directly into the lights when they are turned on.
The bulbs are also very expensive and break very easily, extreme care should be taken at all times.
When you're using the lamps, make sure the lead connecting the lights to the socket is taped down.

Key light - This is the main light to used to show the subject.

Fill light - This light is used to fill in the areas of shadow that are created by the Key light.

Back light - This light is used to create silhouette's often used in horror etc.

I'm Here - A shot film by Spike Jonze

As a short film I enjoyed the experience of this moving and inspiring romance. Spike Jonze has manage to create a beautiful love story about sacrifice and give more emotion to robots than human beings allowing them to change their seemingly programmed life’s. With exceptional use of lighting and music this story really touches the heart, appealing to anyone in love. A must see romantic short introducing why short films are so under rated as a genre.
